Brassica oleracea [Italica Group] 'Waltham 29' head

It has been our experience that Brassica oleracea [Italica Group] 'Waltham 29' performs well as an ornamental plant in our area in a cool season planting, but did not create large broccoli. When allowed to flower, it is a pollinator attractor. It has been observed to have good cold hardiness and does not do poorly during sudden cold snaps. It reaches about twenty four to thirty inches in height, but stems may tend to fall over. For this reason, it may be best to grow another plant around it to hide the fallen stems.
